The 6th Global Forum on TB Vaccines will take place in Toulouse, capital of France’s southern Occitanie region, at the Pierre Baudis Congress Centre.
The Pierre Baudis Congress Centre is a modern, state-of-the-art facility situated in the heart of Toulouse. It is located just 15 minutes from the international airport, and within walking distance of a wide variety of hotels, restaurants, and other amenities. The Toulouse Metro stops in front of the venue, making it easy to connect with the rest of the city.
We will make reasonable efforts to accommodate special needs for participants who request them. Please contact us regarding accessibility information and any special needs or services that you may require to participate in the 6th Global Forum. We request that you notify us by 15 January 2022 about special needs. The conference venue is accessible to people with disabilities.
The official currency in France is the Euro (EUR). Websites such as Oanda can provide up-to-date currency exchange information.
Credit cards such as Visa, American Express and MasterCard are widely accepted at hotels, restaurants, and shopping centers and cash machines are widely available.

Refer to the COVID-19 and Visa page of the website for information regarding COVID-19 restrictions and policies to enter France, as well as information about testing options should this be required to return to your home country.
English is the official language of the 6th Global Forum. All presentations and posters will be in English. English is widely spoken and understood throughout Toulouse.
Health & Medical Services
Emergency and medical care is widely available in Toulouse. It is advisable to purchase travel medical insurance that will cover any necessary medical expenses during the period of your stay.
Suggested attire for the 6th Global Forum is business casual or national dress.
Tipping is not customary in France but may be offered at your discretion for good service. If you do wish to tip for a service, some general guidelines are provided below. Please note that if you are paying by credit card there may not be a place to add a tip, so if you wish to tip you should plan to do so with cash.
- A 15% service fee is automatically included in all bills for cafes, restaurants, bars, etc. If you wish to leave an additional tip you may do so, commonly this is only a few Euros.
- In hotels it is customary to tip porters (€.50 - €1.00 per bag) and housekeeping (€1.50 per day).
- It is customary to tip your taxi driver 10% of the fare.
Safety & Security
Toulouse is a safe place to visit; however, as when visiting any city, travelers should take certain common precautions.
- Be aware of your belongings (cell phones, cameras, devices, wallets), particularly in crowded areas. Consider carrying cash and valuables in a concealed belt or pouch.
- Know where you are going and areas of the city you may wish to avoid. Staff at the information desk can assist with this.
- Only open your hotel door to staff or people you know
At the time of the conference France will be on Central European Time (CET), which is 1 hour ahead of UTC.
February marks the end of winter in Toulouse. The weather is typically cool and reasonably dry. The average temperatures in February range from 3 -11°C (37-52°F). Sweaters, jackets, or others clothing layers are recommended.
Power sockets in France provide a standard voltage of 230V with a standard frequency of 50Hz. Power sockets are either Type C (2 round pins) or Type E (2 round pins and a hole for a grounding pin). Type C and Type F plugs will work in a Type E socket. Be sure to confirm that your devices are compatible with this voltage and your adapter will work in these outlets.
There are numerous dining options around Toulouse, which are easily accessible by foot, Metro, or taxi/Uber. Information on dining options will be available at the information desk, and the conference staff will be glad to assist you in identifying appropriate dining options.
WiFi and Communications
Wifi will be available in the meeting rooms and common areas at the Congress Centre and in the conference designated hotels (additional costs may apply).
If you wish, you can purchase a SIM card or local phone at the airport on your arrival in Toulouse or in major shopping areas.
Smoking is prohibited in indoor places, including the conference venue, hotels, restaurants, bars, and when using public transportation in France.
GETTING AROUND TOULOUSE
The conference staff will be happy to assist you with ground transportation around Toulouse. Information about taxis and public transportation is available on the Travel page and will also be available at the registration and information desks. The public transportation system is easy to use. Transportation passes for the Metro, busses, and trams and valid from 21 - 25 February 2022 will be provided to all registered 6th Global Forum participants, courtesy of Toulouse Metropole. Ride-hailing apps Uber and Capitole Taxi are also available in Toulouse.
