COVID UPDATE - 6th Global Forum on TB Vaccines Shifts to Virtual Format
10 January 2022
The Global Forum on TB Vaccines is the main opportunity for the diverse range of stakeholders involved in TB vaccine research and development (R&D) to come together, to share their research and findings, to promote innovation in TB vaccine R&D, and to foster partnerships and collaborations. The 6th Global Forum on TB Vaccines is hosted by France under the high patronage of President Emmanuel Macron and under the patronage of Minister of Solidarity and Health Olivier Véran, and the city of Toulouse. The 6th Global Forum is an event organized in the framework of the French Presidency of the Council of the European Union.
The Organizers have been carefully monitoring the recent upswing in rates of COVID-19 infection and the emergence and rapid spread of the omicron variant, and are aware of the challenges and uncertainties around changing travel restrictions and national and regional mandates. In response, the Co-Chairs and Organizing Partners have made the decision to shift to a fully virtual format for the 6th Global Forum and will organize the Forum on four shorter days, taking place from 22 – 25 February, to facilitate attendance.
This decision was not made lightly. We are aware of the value that participants place on the experience and opportunities of in-person meetings and we heard from many of you about how much you were looking forward to meeting in person in Toulouse. We know that this news may be disappointing, but the Organizers remain committed to providing this opportunity to bring the TB vaccine R&D community together. We will offer the same high-quality program and content covering that full range of TB vaccine R&D that we have been planning, and the 6th Global Forum will still provide opportunities to review the state of the field, connect with colleagues, and promote collaboration that we know are important to participants.
We hope that you will join us online in February and that you will have another opportunity to visit the vibrant and inspiring city of Toulouse soon.
