COVID-19 Statement

The Global Forum on TB Vaccines is an important opportunity for the diverse range of stakeholders involved in TB vaccine research and development (R&D) to come together, to share their research and findings, to promote innovation in TB vaccine R&D, and to foster partnerships and collaborations. A Virtual Global Forum on TB Vaccines was held in April 2021 to allow the TB vaccine R&D community to discuss the state of the field against the backdrop of the COVID-19 pandemic.

The Virtual Global Forum program was an abbreviated format and was developed with the intention of convening the full 6th Global Forum on TB Vaccines - including plenary sessions, abstract-driven sessions, and poster sessions – in February 2022 in Toulouse, France. We recognize the importance of providing an opportunity for researchers to present their work through abstract-driven sessions and poster presentations, an opportunity that was not available at the Virtual Global Forum. We are also aware of the value that participants place on the experience and opportunities of in-person meetings. However, at the same time we recognize that the COVID-19 pandemic continues to pose challenges for international travel and for in-person gatherings.

After careful consideration and balancing the challenges presented by the COVID-19 pandemic with the importance of bringing together the TB vaccine R&D community, the Co-Chairs and Organizing Partners have decided to continue with plans to convene the 6th Global Forum on TB Vaccines in Toulouse, France in February 2022 utilizing a hybrid format that will allow for both in-person and online participation. In doing so, we hope to make the 6th Global Forum accessible to a broader audience, including those who are unable to or concerned about international travel and in-person gatherings.

We will endeavor to provide opportunities for both audiences to gain insights and knowledge from the presentations and discussions that will be held, and options to network with your peers, through the use of digital and interactive technologies. More details on the program offerings for each audience will be made available in the coming weeks.

The Organizing Partners are carefully monitoring the COVID-19 pandemic and its potential impact on the in-person component of the 6th Global Forum. Information and updates, including COVID-19 health and safety protocols, will be posted on this website as they are available.
